About the Oil
Rose oil absolute is extracted using a delicate and labourious method: similar to 'effleurage' (the pressing of petals in fat to produce an extract), this flower essence is slowly extracted using pure alcohol, eventually producing a with a wax-like 'concrete'. A second extraction of the concrete gives rise to the absolute. This method is more efficient than steam distillation, producing nearly 7 pounds of oil per 10,000 pounds of roses (distillation yields 1 pound oil per 10,000 pounds of roses), with a corresponding lower cost than a steam distilled variety - some find the absolute has a more 'complete' aroma; more true to the flower.
This Rose Absolute is a yellow-orange with a warm, sweet complex and deeply rosey aroma with a rich, honeyed undertone ~ magnetic and almost intoxicating!
Exhalted in literature and mythology, the rose has been sacred since ancient times - it's blossom is a symbol of beauty, love, youth, perfection and immortality. In Greek mythology, the rose is said to have sprung from Adonis; the Turks believe it sprang from the blood of Venus and the Mohammedans believe it sprang from the sweat of Mohamet.
Rose was included in remedies for its ability to cool and sooth everything from irritated skin to emotional upset. In TCM, the Rose promotes blood circulation in the spleen and liver and is generally prescribed for disorders of the blood.
The scent is divinely sweet, rich, and deeply floral - exclusive to the extract of history's most revered flower. Its uplifting aroma will blend well with many other oils, including Jasmine, Sandalwood, Lavender, and Amber.
